At the end of this month, I’m heading back to Disneyland for the second time. My first visit was amazing but there was still so much that I didn’t do. So this time, I’m arming myself with a bucket list of things to tick off.
Disneyland Bucket List
Walk-in Walt’s Footsteps Tour
One of the reasons Disneyland is so special is because Walt himself envisioned the original park (a lot of which still remains today). The Walk in Walt’s footsteps tour gives insight into how he did this and also grants access to his private apartment over the fire station. It is this apartment that Walt would watch his visitors enter his park. The light in the window has remained on since his death.
Last time I went to Disneyland, Haunted Mansion had it yearly Nightmare Before Christmas overlay meaning I haven’t seen the original version. As good as the holiday overlay was, seeing the original Haunted Mansion has always been on my Disneyland Bucket List. This year the Mansion closes on August 26th for work to begin on adding its overlay, meaning I’ll get one day to experience the normal verison and I CANNOT WAIT! Haunted Mansion is one of those classic Disney attractions that predates any films made on it and is just so special. I’m going to try and ride it at least 3 times to get my fix before it goes out of action!
All of my Disney fan friends tell me that the Disneyland version of Fantasmic is better than the one at Hollywood Studios in WDW. For me, the WDW version will be hard to beat as it’s one of my favourite Disney shows of all time but I’m ready to make my own mind up. I’m ready to see the characters come out on the Mark Twain Riverboat and experience the music as I know it is different from the WDW version. Which version will get top spot – stay tuned to find out!
Eat at Lamplight Lounge
The lobster Mac and Cheese from Lamplight Lounge is the stuff of absolute Disney legend and I am ready for my tastebuds to experience it. I’m also quite excited about dining in general at Disneyland and California Adventure as my last trip was very limited and I’m looking forward to trying a few more tabel service meals including character dining. I’m trying to eat less meat so I’m excited to see what vegetarian options Disneyland has to offer!
Experience Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
The BIG one for this trip is visiting the land of Baku to explore all things Star Wars! Galaxy’s Edge opened in May and from what I’ve seen online, the theming and detail look incredible. I can’t wait to ride Smuggler’s Run and drink the blue milk. I’d also be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for Coca-cola in its swanky Star Wars themed bottle haha! We’ve got a reservation at Oga’s Canteen and we’re ready to try a whole lotta drink!
I find Disneyland a much slower paced park that Walt Disney World and I’m very excited to try some of the more adult offerings that they have. Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar is located at Disneyland Hotel and offers a wide range of cocktails in a tiki setting. My friends and I are planning an evening just to kick back and relax with a few decent cocktails.
World of Color
Sadly, last time I went to Disneyland World of Color was not being performed (I did get to see Paint the Night though so I can’t complain! I’d highly recommend adding this to your Disneyland Bucket list!) World of Color is a light, water and protection show located on the lake in California Adventure. It’s one of those iconic Disney shows that every fan wants to get around to seeing at some point and I’m excited that this year, is my year!
So that’s my Disneyland bucket list for this trip. I’m sure we’ll get up to lots more but these are the absolute musts for me! Is there anything else I should add on?
