Yes, that woman who’s blog you use to read before she abandoned it for her two YouTube channels. If you’re reading this post, welcome back. And a big welcome back to me also because it’s been BLOODY AGES since I sat down and wrote a blog post.
I can’t really put my finger on why I’ve been away for so long – other than being super busy, I guess I just wasn’t feeling as inspired to blog. I spent most of 2016 and all of 2017 so far feeling like my blog was inadequate in the big wide world of blogging. I think many of us old timers (not really that old time am I?) have noticed a big change in the world of blogging. For one, there are so many people who blog now – and so many talented people at that – that it’s easy to feel lost or not good enough (I have a whole post on that coming up!)
You may have noticed that lilmisschickas.com is gone. When I first started blogging I chose lilmisschickas as my alias as I knew nobody else would have anything like it and while I was right, over the years I’ve grown to despise the name. When it got to the point that I physically couldn’t tell people my blog name, I knew it was time for a change. First to go were the Twitter and Instagram handles. Then my second YouTube channel was born with my real name as the URL. Now finally, my blog has caught up and I feel completely liberated! I regret not changing it sooner but (and I say this with a big grin on my face) WELCOME TO CHARLOTTERUFF.COM. The wave of relief when I finally made the switch was unbelievable. Also big shout out to my hosts Kualo for handling the switch for me. If you’re thinking of starting a WordPress blog or are thinking for moving from Blogger to WordPress like I did (read here!) I cannot recommend them enough.
Personally, I feel that I do my best blogging when I want to write – not when I’m forced to. Running two YouTube channels and working a (mostly) full time job means that sometimes the last thing I want to do is come and sit back in front of the computer and write. But things are changing around these parts. At the end of June I started my new role as a Social Media Manager for a brand and dropped from a five day week to a four day one. This opportunity has given me a day to spread my creative wings and focus on my own social brand. It allows me the opportunity to build an online space that I’m proud of.
I’ve been doing my new role for about a month now and I’ve learnt A LOT about what it’s like from the perspective of the brand so I’m hoping to take some of this knowledge and step my own brand up a notch.
I feel like this post has been a tad rambly and all over the place so I’m going to end it here. Thank you for bearing with me while I pursued other adventures and here’s a charlotteruff.com – finally a blog name I can say proudly (and without cringing!)
