Review: Andrea Beers Salon, Barnt Green

AB-HAIR-05

I’ve tried my fair share of salons around the Birmingham area in the search for ‘the one’, the perfect hairdresser.  My girlfriends and I agree that once you’ve found a good hairdresser you have to hold on to them for dear life.  I remember about eight years ago when the guy I’d been going to since I was sixteen just upped and moved to a different part of the country.  I was devastated and I did’t get my hair cut for nearly a year…. So yeah, hairdressers are important… But I digress.

I was recently invited down to the Andrea Beers salon in Barnt Green, a lovely leafy village not so far from the bright lights of Birmingham City Centre.  Andrea wanted to showcase her salon to a few local bloggers and prove that salons on the high street have more than enough talent to not only compete with the city centre and national chains, but also still service their local clientele who’s hairdresser visits are just as important.  Andrea was nominated for the BHA British Newcomer of the Year in her previous salon and her team also hold a few accolades including ‘Colourist of the Year’ and ‘Midlands Hairdresser of the Year’.

The Barnt Green salon is Andrea’s second salon (her first one is in Kidderminster) and has a glamorous but homely feel when you walk in.  The team made me feel very welcome with Prosecco and finger sandwiches before it was time for my cut and blow dry.  First came the hair wash and I was treated to an Oplex treatment on my hair.  The Oplex treatment boasts that it can fix your damaged hair by strengthening and conditioning from the inside.  It takes more than one, but even after one, you hair feels so soft and silky, the top line of frizz also disappears.  Andrea has clients that come in just for the treatment because over the years, they’ve abused their hair with bleach.  Also it’s what Kimmy K uses to go platinum and back without leaving lasting damage to her locks.

I was super impressed and even into the next day, people commented on how much volume my hair had.

Don’t forget to check out Andrea’s  Facebook page to go and see what her and her team can do.  If you’re that side of Birmingham and looking for a new hairdresser, I’d highly recommend popping in to see Andrea!
