At the beginning of 2015 I made a pact with myself that I’d try to start appreciating all the moments that made me happy. I decided to get a jar, and then every time something good happened, I’d write what happened on a post it note and pop it in the jar. Then on the 31st December I’d go through and read all the things that had made me happy throughout the year. I wrote a post about why I decided to do this, which you can read here. It’s nickname was ‘The Good things Jar’ and now it’s time to open it.
I’ll admit I was a little late opening the jar. I actually spent all of the time between Christmas and New Year up with Adam and his family in Chester. I didn’t get back to Birmingham until the 3rd of Jan (ooops!) but it doesn’t really make much difference.
Opening all the notes, I had the biggest Cheshire Cat grin on my face as I read through all the things that had made me smile. They ranged from milestones in my relationship with Adam to notes wrote about when I’d gotten praise at work when I’d done a good job. Blog wise, I was so proud that I’d made it into Blogosphere Magazine – which I’d actually forgotten about until I opened the post it note and I recorded a great night at a Disney Bloggers party back in April where I met a fab brand called AttractionTix who I’ve worked with since then.
2016
This year I’ll be doing the same again. I’ve also wrote down my blogging goals and put them in the bottom of the jar too so I can look and see how far I’ve come at the end of the year. It was lovely to sit there and reflect on some of the best moments of the previous year. I got that warm, fuzzy feeling inside as i remembered each event with ease. There are so many things you don’t remember as time goes on that it was lovely to have a gentle reminder of the times I was most happy.
I encourage all of my readers to try their own ‘Good Things Jar’. Honestly, you won’t regret it!
