2014 turned out to be a pretty lacklustre year for me personally. I’ll be honest and say what happened at the end of the year pretty much ruined it for me. What made things worse is that I couldn’t remember any of the good things that had happened during the beginning and middle which meant that the bad stuff clouded an entire year of memories. 2015 however has been excellent to me so far and I’m determined not to forget any of the amazing things that have happened to me. On January 1st I began writing down all the good things that happened to me, just after they occurred. I then folded it up and put it into a jar which has garnered the name ‘The Good Things Jar’. It sits in my bedroom and already holds lots of memories.
The end goal is to get to the 31st of December 2015 and sit and read all the notes to remind myself of all the good things that have happened to me this year – and leave all the rubbish in the past – who needs to remember feeling bad?
If you want to try this yourself, it’s definitely not too late to start this… I think you can actually start it anytime of the year that you want to – just remember to set yourself a ‘reveal’ date so you can go back and read all your memories. I’m really looking forward to rediscovering and reliving a few of 2015’s best memories 🙂
Have you ever done anything similar to ‘the good things jar’?
