The Best Eyeliner for Hooded, Oily Eyes

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eyeliner in gel and pencil form

I started wearing makeup properly when I was 16 and since then I’ve been searching for the perfect eyeliner that will go the distance on my oily eyes.  By going the distance I mean not fading and not ending up half way down my cheek after an hour or so.  I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve probably tried around fifty different products since my teens.  I know what the problem is – it’s my hooded, oily eyes.  The good news is, is that I’m not alone on the hooded front – J Law also has them and I’ve been keeping close tabs on her eye makeup since I noticed this.  I may do an entire post on life with hooded eyes and how I make the most of them.

Enter Bobbi Brown (one of my favourite brands) and two products that complete the task of not budging effortlessly.  First let’s talk about the  (the original gel liner by the way…) which I’ve been using for just over a year.  I love using this for cat flicks and to create dramatic eye looks.  It works perfectly over eyeshadow which makes it great for a smokey eye.  I’ve been eyeing up the brown version of this for a while because that’s what I’m currently into: brown eyeliner – still as effective as black eyeliner but slightly softer and perfect for work.  I’ve actually done a full review of the ‘black’ version here.

A recent discovery of mine is the s*.  I’ve been using ‘Black Chocolate’ religiously to line the top of my lids – it’s perfect to bulk out the lash line to give the illusion of fuller and thicker lashes.  These are the first kohl eyeliners I’ve been comfortable using on the lids of my eyes and I can say with confidence that they are also the first kohl eyeliner I’ve used which haven’t succumbed to my oily lids and ran down my face and last more than a few hours.  It’s a win win.  Even after 10 hours at work when my shadow has faded, my liner is still soldiering on.

I’m so impressed with the Bobbi Brown Long Wear range… I guess the clue is in the name but it really is long lasting.  I’ve never come across eyeliners that last as long on my oily eyelids and would absolutely recommend them if you’re also blessed with hooded, oily eyes.
