Life Updates #1

You may have noticed that lately my posts have been few and far between – compared to my usual schedule anyway.  Even though I make no apologies about taking a break from blogging (I think it’s healthy to want this from time to time) I thought I’d share with you what I’ve been up to lately.

I’m not going to lie, I haven’t been off leading the super glamorous lifestyle that most people have come to expect from bloggers.  My life over the last couple of weeks has consisted of lying on my couch catching up on all my favourite TV shows – mainly the new series of New Girl and The Mindy Project.  The Mindy Project is probably may favourite show at the moment- it tops a list that consists of New Girl, Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn 99 and Two Broke Girls.  There are several reasons why I love it; it’s easy to watch, its downright HILARIOUS – to the point where my face actually hurts from laughing, the writing is clever and I’m a little bit in love with Doctor Danny Castallano. But the main reason I love it, is that a can resonate with Mindy on so many levels; she’s a successful career woman – something I aspire to be, she’s independent – something I pride myself on – think Destiny’s Child Independent Woman lyrics as rules to live by, but mostly because like me, Mindy is a hopeless romantic who wants to be in love like they are in the movies.  There are so many references to classic romcoms that I adore watching (including my all time favourite – ‘Sleepless in Seattle’) and moments (without spoiling it for you) that make my heart giddy with happiness for the characters.  I’ve even picked up the first series on DVD from Amazon to rewatch and I love it when you start making connections between different plot points that connect everything together from different series – something James and I love to point out to each other.  Yes he loves watching it too and I enjoy laughing with him.

I also went for my first massage last week (post coming soon) at the Hyatt Regency in Birmingham.  In fact, as I write this post I’m thinking about what I was doing this time last week, having the most relaxing time of my life and enjoying time to switch off and have all the stress melt away from my body.  I’d highly recommend going for one, or a facial which was also included in my treatment.  Utter bliss.
I’ve also been trying to focus more on my career this month.  I’ve never known exactly what I wanted to do with my life in terms of a job but I’m very happy with what I’m doing noq.  It may not be the most glamorous of careers but it allows me to travel – albeit not to the most exciting of places – but I love to do it all the same.  I’m learning how to grow within my job and become better at it which is important to me.  I’m far from perfect, or the best at it, but I can only strive to be the best version of myself (that might be a paraphrased line from Mindy Project there.)
Finally I’ve been learning to appreciate the little things in life.  Thing like listening to the rain when I’m all cosy inside, James cooking me dinner – even the simplest of meals, the young geese near our house that are growing into slightly scary adult versions.  There are so many things around us that we completely brush over day to day and half our life passes us by without even noticing.  I want to notice more.
So that’s where I’ve been lately and now I’m ready to throw myself back into blogging with a bang.  The amount of products mounting up for review is getting taller and taller and now I feel refreshed and ready to tackle them. Also, I just wanted to quickly say that I hit 4000 YouTube subscribers on Friday so if you’re subscribed, BIG HUGS to you 🙂 I love taking time out to live and ‘veg out’ as I call it.  Blogging can become quite a suffocating hobby if you let it so it’s nice to let the batteries recharge and find new inspiration 🙂
