Illamasqua Gleam Highlighter in Aurora

Illamasqua is a brand that I’ve always admired from afar but never quite taken the step to add a piece to my collection.  I love the bold colour and outlandish campaigns and have heard lots of good reviews about various products.  I always give the counter the once over when I’m having a ‘beauty browse’ through Selfridges and now I’m so excited to be trying my first piece of their vast collection.

The Illamasqua Gleam Highlighter in Aurora* (Debenhams, £20) is a champagne tinted, lightweight cream highlighter that gives your skin a healthy warm glow while leaving it looking dewy and fresh.  Unlike other highlighters, it contains no glitter as it is the pearlescent pigments that give the product its shimmer when they catch the light.  I apply it using my fingers, dabbing it in to my cheekbones, down my nose and just under my brows to give my face a warm glow that isn’t too overpowering.  I’ve also tried it under my foundation to give an even more subtle glow to my skin.  It sit well on top of my powder and has a staying power of around six hours.
I think Aurora would suit most skin tones as it’s warm tones do nothing but highlight and being a cream brush it is very easy to blend and build up.  I think the warm golden glow makes my skin look radiant and healthy without looking like somebody has taken gold paint to my cheekbones.  I’m so glad I’ve added this to my collection and it is fast becoming one of my favourite highlighters.
