A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited by Goodfellas to Alton Towers for the day to ride The Smiler and try out their limited edition Smiler inspired pizza. As my family is a bit theme park obsessed (and J had to work – haha) I took my Aunt and two cousins for the day. Living in Birmingham, Alton Towers is not far at all – just a short journey up the M6 – so we all packed in my little car and set off on our fun filled adventure.
We had a fab day at the park. The weather was perfect; sunny and warm enough to dry quickly after those water rides… and trust me we needed it to be as we got soaked! We hit all the big roller coasters; Air, Nemesis, Oblivion and Rita first before an afternoon of water rides and then just as the sun was setting we tackled The Smiler! Now as you guys know from my Orlando holiday obsession, I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie and love nothing more than a good roller-coaster. The Smiler was everything I wanted it to be and more; I came off feeling dazed and smiley – and now I know where they got the name from! With 14 loop the loop this roller-coaster is a world first and if you’re like me and can’t get enough of ‘scary’ ‘coasters, you’ll love it!
Goodfellas installed a selfie powered vending machine at the entrance of the park where and you guessed it – to get your free pizza you had to take your best ‘roller-coaster face’ inspired selfie. Now onto the pizza itself. As you guys know, I have a very low ‘spice’ threshold so J volunteered to do the actual tasting – something he must have been very gutted about I’m sure. He enjoyed the kick from the jalapeños and the spicy sausage and he also liked the generous helping of cheese and the thick crust it all sat upon. It’s a big thumbs up from James and he’s already asked if we can get some more for the freezer.
