The Reverse Hair Wash – Does it work?

The blogging world (and the rest of the online beauty world) has been abuzz lately with the idea of reverse hair washing.  A strange concept with the ideal to change everything we thought we knew about washing our hair (second most mundane beauty task after brush washing btw).  A few weeks ago I thought I’d give it a go and have been trialling it each time I wash my hair – about five washes now.
It’s a very simple process, wet hair as normal, work in conditioner to the ends as normal, rinse, apply shampoo and rinse again.  You then dry your hair with no other products.  The result should be hair that is full of bounce as it will not be weighted down by any excess conditioner that we apparently can never really get fully out.
The result for me is thick bouncy hair that feels as light as it does when I come out of the salon.  I have a natural volume that I struggle to achieve even with products and I can even go longer in between washes as it takes longer for it to get greasy.  I have however noticed that my hair does feel drier than normal and it is just that tad more difficult to get my tangle teaser through it.  After speaking to my hairdresser about it, he seems to think long term it will damage my hair and the ends will split quicker than they do now.
I think for me this might be a ‘once in a blue moon’ hair wash; perhaps before a night out or special occasion.  I enjoy the silky feeing of my hair too much to forgo it all the time.  Also the thought of using heat on my hair without a heat protection spray is just a big no, no!
Have you tried the reverse hair wash? What did you think?
