I have to admit that when I started this blog I never thought I’d be writing about my daily deodorant routine but alas here I am. I mentioned this Sure deodorant in a favourites video a few months ago and accompanied it with a little story from my very sweaty youth. Embarrassed, yes I was at first but not now. My names Charlotte and I suffer from hyperhidrosis which means I’m a bit of a sweaty mess… and yes I did just admit that on the internet!
I discovered that I was not alone with my embarrassing sweat problem and lots of people got in touch via email, youtube comments and twitter to thank me for sharing my story and were happy to discover that they are not alone. Fast forward 10 years (gulp) from my teens and the problem has become a lot more manageable for me. I still sweat a lot but it’s no where near as embarrassing as it once was. One of the reasons for that is because of the technology brands have discovered and incorporated into their products. There are still some out there that are still lacking in this department but a few really are standing the test of time (or sweat in my case!)
Sure Maximum Protection claims to be a 48 Hour Anti-persprant Deodorant. Firstly lets just be straight – it doesn’t last 48 hours for me, mainly because I shower everyday and I tend to find about 12-14 hours the maximum. What it does do however is keep my under arm skin BONE dry all day. I apply it first thing in the morning and leave it a few minutes to dry before putting my top on and somehow it manages to put up with all the days activities without even really trying. If you suffer from really bad sweating (like I use to in my teens) you can also apply this last thing before you go to bed at night. The formula works while you’re body is resting to stop you sweating the next day – even after your morning shower Sure claim.
This product comes in a few different scents but my favourite has to be ‘Clean Scent’ which smells clean and fresh and when I do sweat (like when I go running) it masks any smell really well.
I know it is so crucial to find a good deodorant so that you’re not faced with daily embarrassment so my top tip is to look for one with both deodorant and anti-perspriant in. Deodorant masks the smell of BO while anti-perspriant interferes with you body’s natural cooling system and actually stops you sweating. Of course it’s alway good to have the deodorant element just in case the ani-persprant fails.
I’ve learnt to live with and manage my sweaty situation. I’m lucky that it seems to have calmed down in my 20’s. Remember if deodorant isn’t working there are other options of dealing with sweat and you can speak to your doctor about those.
