Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve probably heard that YouTube’s Tanya Burr has released her own range of lip glosses and nail polishes in partnership with Eye Candy.  This is such huge news for the online community as Tanya is not a conventional ‘celebrity’, just a girl who started off making videos in her bedroom and is now a well known name both in and out of YouTube with her own range of makeup.  It’s pretty amazing actually.  I love some of the names she’s gone for, they’re very cute.  As I pledged in my makeup collection video (see here) that I would not buy any nail polish in 2014 I picked up two of the lip glosses instead.  I chose ‘Afternoon Tea’ and ‘Aurora’ (you know I love a good Disney reference, how could I resist?).
I am so pleased I decided to pick up as it was a toss up between that and ‘Just Peachy’.  I figured that both of them would suit my pale skin better than some of the other shades.  It’s the creamiest peachy pink which gives a ‘my lip colour but 10 times better’ vibe.  Normally I go for lipstick over lipgloss but Afternoon Tea has even bumped a couple of my favourite lipsticks down the ‘favourites’ pecking order.
I wanted to then buy a second that was completely different to all my usual lipgloss choices (OK it may have had something to do with the name… just a bit).   is richer pink and Tanya wasn’t lying when she said it’s the colour of Aurora’s dress.  I don’t think the packaging of this colour does it justice but once it’s on the lips you can see the beauty it all it’s glory.  It also contains the faintest hint of glitter which doesn’t transfer to the lips much at all.  For me this is not a bad thing as my personal preference is no glitter!
I’ve been really surprised with the quality of these glosses as Eye Candy is not a brand I’ve ever really heard much about.  They are glossy, rich in colour and last really well on the lips.  I’m also pleased to report that they’re not too sticky either which will make wearing the on windy days a lot more plausible.  I road tested them both at work and had to top them up every couple of hours just like other high street glosses.  I also really love the applicator as it’s very easy to manoeuvre around my teeny, tiny lips and slides on the perfect amount of gloss per application.  They also smell of strawberry which is one of my favourite scents after citrus.  They smell (and taste) good enough to eat!  The only thing I’m not so crazy about is the cardboard packaging but when the product is good it becomes less of an issue.
I’m really pleased with both the shades I picked up but I think Afternoon Tea is the winner for me and can see this being my new ‘go to’ lip gloss for a forthcoming months.
If you want to get your hands on Tanya’s range, they’re available from  for £6.99 and will soon being going into Superdrug stores.  So congratulations Tanya on your success!  You’re an inspiration to beauty bloggers and vloggers all across the world.  The beauty community is really proud of your achievement and it’s a huge step for bloggers/YouTubers being recognised by the main stream media and outlets.
A quick side note: my friend picked up one of the nail polishes and she said she has been chip free for three days and that they were very pigmented and glossy; DAMN my polish ban!!
Have you tried anything from Tanya’s range?  What were your thoughts?  If not what colours are you excited to try?
