Bourjois Happy Light Foundation Review

The packaging of the Bourjois Happy Light Foundation

Makeup done using Bourjois Happy Light Foundation

Back in April, I dabbled in my first high street/drug store foundation in years.  It was the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation and I was pleasantly surprised that I loved it.  Whilst perusing the aisles of Boots a few weeks ago I happened to notice their Happy Light foundation and the 3 for 2 offer made it too hard to resist.  I recently finished using up my Nars Sheer Glow so was willing to try this as my new everyday foundation.
Packaging wise, it’s pretty standard for Bourjois; glass bottle with a plastic coloured top.  It has a pump dispenser which makes it easy to get the perfect amount for each application.  Of course the down side to the glass is that it makes slightly heavier to carry around but in the grand scheme of things it’s not important.  It’s what’s inside the bottle that counts…
The Bourjois Happy Light foundation is billed as a foundation that will give a luminous and flawless complexion in any light. I opted for the lightest shade, 50 which has the perfect amount of pink and yellow undertones for my skin tone. I found the finish of this product to be quite velvety instead of dewy which surprised me although I’m a huge fan of a velvet finish so it scored major points with me straight away.  Being a liquid foundation, I found it very easy to blend with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush.  It is easily build-able and doesn’t look cakey.  As with all foundations I like to finish applying it with a quick rub of my fingers to really make sure its blended as naturally as possible.  It comes in five different shades which is slightly disappointing in terms of shade menus however if you can get the right shade for your skin it really is a great foundation.
Bourjois are really bringing it in terms of high street beauty.  2013 was the year I ditched the foundation snobbyness and opened my mind to amazing foundation at a reasonable price.  Bourjois is a brand that I never really tried before this year but I’m so glad I did.  I can’t wait to continue expanding my Bourjois collection.  The Bourjois Happy Light Foundation is available from Boots for £11.99.  It’s apart of the extended ‘Happy Light’ range which includes a primer and a concealer.
What other products should I try from Bourjois?
