Micky Flanagan at the Capital FM Arena Nottingham

On Thursday, myself and a few other bloggers were invited to go and see Micky Flanagan ‘Back in the Game’* at the Nottingham Capital FM Arena.  I met up with Sophia from Tattooed Tealady for a quick bite to eat in Nottingham City Centre before heading over to the arena.  I’ve never been to the Capital FM Arena (@CapitalFMArena on twitter) before, it’s right in the centre of town and very easy to get to.  A few people in my office at work had been to seen him on Saturday while he was in Birmingham and the reviews on Monday were positive so I was eager to get in there and see his stand up.
This was only the second comedian I’ve seen live and boy did I laugh A LOT!  If you know Micky from his stints on popular Channel 4 panel shows such as ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ you’ll know his style of comedy and that his east end charm is all part of his act.  Micky has been doing stand up for around thirteen years, hitting the ‘big’ time in 2011.  His act is very current with a range of topics and without giving too much away, he will have you chortling away to things you know you shouldn’t be laughing at (he does like to use his wife as a reference point!).  Within about fifteen minutes my cheeks were hurting with laughter.  At one point I think I was laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe and there was a particularly awkward moment when I almost spat my drink over the person sitting in front of me!  For me the best kind of comedy is the type that make you think ‘I do that’ or ‘Somebody I know is exactly like that’.  Micky’s show is full of awkward moments that make you reevaluate your own behaviour, cringing and laughing about it at the same time.
I really enjoyed the show and the best part is that there are still tickets left for his remaining two days in Nottingham, today (Friday 15th November) and tomorrow (Saturday 16th November.)  Tickets are priced between £27.44 and £29.68 including admin charges.  You can book online , by calling the ticket hotline on 0843 373 3000 or in person at the Ticket Booth.
Thank you so much to Capital FM Arena for inviting me to this event.  I really enjoyed myself and if you haven’t seen any of Micky’s stuff before I urge you to check him out.  Ford avid mickey fans who perhaps couldn’t make it to one of his shows, you can also pre-order the tour DVD from Monday 18th november.
