Happy 10th Birthday Selfridges Birmingham!

On Wednesday 4th September Selfridges Birmingham celebrated it’s 10th birthday with a party in it’s champagne bar which I was very lucky to get an invite for!  I can remember when Selfridges (and Bullring) opened.  I was in Year 10 at school and just beginning to love shopping and beauty.  All of a sudden there was this funky looking building with lots of cool brands inside and I was in heaven.  Back to the present…  It was a lovely evening full of tasty canapés, yummy cocktails and good music along with some exciting announcements.  General Manager Vicki Cain announced that Selfridges is in line for a £20 million refit and they’ve started with the beauty hall.  I really hope that this means they will be brings some more of the brands up that are available in the London store as Selfridges also wants to be the destination to shop outside of London.  I know that myself and the other Birmingham based bloggers I was with are very excited to see what will happen, especially with John Lewis opening next year too!

There was also entertainment in the form of a drag queen from Brighton who was very entertaining and extremely funny when mixing with the crowd.  Selfridges are doing lots of things to celebrate their birthday with special offers and special food in their food hall… Krispie Kreme Ed’s Diner Donut Burger anybody?  Sounds weird but I bet it tastes amazing and I may have to take myself down over the weekend to grab one!!

On my way out of the party I was handed a goody bag and there was a small squeal of delight when I opened it when I got home.  Sitting inside was my first Diptyqye candle which I can’t wait to burn!  I just wanted to say thank you to Selfridges for inviting me to their party.  I had a lovely time and it’s always great to socialise with other bloggers.  Don’t forget to head down to Selfridges to check out the celebrations and check out the discounts!
