Bumble and Bumble ‘Surf’ Haircare Range Review

I’d give anything to roll out of bed with that effortless ‘done but not done beach wave’ hair.  Unfortunately my hair usually resembles closer to a birds nest than a beach wave so I have to reach for a sea salt texture spray to get the job done.  Bumble and Bumble, the ‘masters’ of sea salt texture hair have recently extended their range to include a Surf Foam Wash Shampoo and a Surf Creme Rinse Conditioner so that you can start the journey for beachy tresses a stage earlier.

Now I’ll admit I had a mini heart attach at the till in Space NK when purchasing these.  At £18.50 and £20 resepctively, they do not come cheap. I toyed with the idea of buying them for a while before I finally took the plunge.  The reason I wanted them was because as somebody with a natural wave to her hair, I wanted something that would help enhance the wave while on holiday with minimal effort.  Of course, if you’ve read my blog for a while you know I love a bit of ‘lazy girl chic’ and for me, this haircare range falls into that category.

Bumble and Bumble say that this haircare with wipe out impurities and leave the hair with a ‘buoyant body and soft, seabreezy texture with a blend of minerals and sea botanicals.’  Firstly, they do leave you hair INCREDIBLY soft which was not what I was expecting from a ‘texture’ haircare range.  My hair also smelt amazing and had a lovely shine to it.

After a few washes and a bit of experimentation with styling I’ve found that the best way to get the best out of these products is to give your hair a quick blast with the hairdryer to lift the roots but allow some natural drying as well.  I can leave the process there and I’d be left with a subtle wave without the normal frizz that I usually get when leaving my hair to drive naturally.  If I wanted even more texture I could finish with a texturising spray but I’d be happy without too.

Now because of the cost I can’t see these being a regular repurchase but I’m planning on road testing these badboys in extreme heat in Florida so this might not be the last you’ve heard about them.  They may well just end up being something that comes out to help reign in the tresses in the summer sun but even if you’re not having a holiday this year, they will easily help you recreate the look at home!
