Witch Anti Blemish Skin Clearing Primer Review

I’ve never really been a huge fan of primer.  Well that’s not strictly true.  I’ve just never found one that I’ve liked enough to keep using past about a week or so.  Up until a month or so ago, using primer was not a priority for me because in all honesty, I’ve never really thought about it that much.  That was until now…
I received the Witch Anti-Blemish Skin Clearing Primer* as part of my ‘Birmingham Blogger Meetup’ goodie bag in January.  Witch is a brand I’ve dabbled with in the past, mainly during my teenage years when my first few spots started to surface.  I use to own the witchhazel stick (which I believe they still sell) that I would continually rub on my spots until it had dried them out completely.  I ‘ve also used their face wipes (again as a teenager).  But now here I am at 23 holding my first Witch product in I’m guessing about 9 years and ladies, prepare to board the rave train because this primer has knocked all others out of the water.
When using a primer I look for four things:
1) Does it have a funny smell?
2) Does it irritate my skin?
3) Does it dry my skin out?
3) Would my foundation last just as long if I didn’t use it?
The answer to all the above is a big fat stinking NO!  The Witch primer has a lovely clean smell to it as it sinks into your skin.  Let’s be honest, nobody wants a stinky face!  For me, it hasn’t irritated my face at all.  If anything, I’m getting less spots now than before I started using it.  This might have something to do with the ‘antibacterial actives’ it has in it that protect the skin from makeup which we all know, as much as we love it, can aggravate spots.  Of course the witch hazel in it may have something to do with this as it is a well known defender against the dreaded spot!
Also, every primer that I’ve ever used has dried my already dry skin out beyond belief (Mac Prep and Prime, I’m looking at you!!) but the Witch one does nothing of the sort.  My skin feels prepped to perfection.  I can still feel my moisturiser and it doesn’t leave it dry and tight.  This primer is also oil and fragrance free so you oily skinned ladies don’t have to worry either.
But the main reason we all reach for primer is to try to make our makeup last long.  So does the Witch Anti-Blemish Skin Clearing Primer deliver?  Of course it does, I did say this was a rave didn’t I??  This primer actually made my makeup last around two to three hours longer than when I went without it.  Usually I need the odd powder touch up around the 2pm mark when I’m at work but with this I didn’t have to top up until at least 4.30pm!
I’ve absolutely loved using this primer and will definitely be buying another one when I’m all out.  The Witch Anti-Blemish Skin Clearing Primer is available from Superdrug for £6.99!
