Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy Review

If you watched my ‘Top 5 Blushers’ video on YouTube (click here) you will have seen that some of my favourite blushes have been recent additions to my makeup collection.  When I was in New York I paid a visit to ‘Beauty Mecca’ (aka Sephora!) and was lucky enough to pick up a few Tarte blushes; ‘Dollface’ and ‘Tipsy’.  You’ll be able to read about Dollface in the future I’m sure but today I’m going to be focusing on my first Peach coloured blush, Tipsy.

Now, it hasn’t been an easy road for Tipsy and I.  I’ve already admitted that I only bought it because I gave into blogger hype.  When I got back to the UK and tried it without looking through New York/Sephora tinted glasses, I wasn’t so sure anymore.  The peach on my pale skin didn’t look quite right.  I felt like it stuck out no matter how much I tried to blend it and didn’t quite suit my skin tone.  I’m not going to lie, I was gutted however I discovered a solution that not only allowed me to use Tipsy in my everyday makeup but absolutely love it too.  The ‘secret’… always contour!  By adding a touch of Nars Laguna underneath and over other key bronzing points across my face, it doesn’t look out of place at all.  This leads me to the main point of this blog post, I think Tipsy would look good on darker skin (or if you’re a snowman like me, by mixing it with a touch of bronzer on the cheek!)  You can make it work for you!

As you can see from the photo it adds warmth and a healthy glow to my cheeks and my overall complexion.  I’m so glad that Ive found a way to make it work for me.  Another thing I should mention about the Tarte 12 hour Amazonian Clay Blushes is that they are highly pigmented and they actually do last 12 hours.  When the rest of my makeup is looking jaded after work, my blush is still going strong!  I’ve been so impressed with it as very rarely does a product actually last all day.

The Tarte blushes are available from Sephora and were approx $25, so quite pricey for a blush.  I’d definitely class them as ‘high end’.   Would I try more from Tarte, definitely   I can’t wait to go back to the States in June and hopefully find some more gems from them!

Have you tried Tipsy or any of the Tarte Blushes?  Do you have a good dupe?
