Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder

Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder

So the day finally came when I decided I was going to take the plunge and purchase Dior Amber or Rose Diamond… only to find that it’s been discontinued.  Gutted doesn’t even come close, but then another product caught my eye and has made me forget all about my lust for them all together.  Step in Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder in 001 Rose/Pink.  The lovely man at the Dior counter told me it’s not meant to be an exact replacement for Rose Diamond but it’s the closest that Dior will be getting it to replacing it.
First, lets talk about the packaging; a gorgeous chrome casing encompassed within a dainty blue velvet bag.  It’s by first piece of Dior makeup and it is visually stunning.  The chrome is much fancier than the blue casing Dior normally comes in and when you’re paying so much for a product you expect it to look and feel like the money you paid.  It also comes with a small kabuki brush, however I prefer to use my normal blush brush to apply it with as I found this one scratchy and hard to blend with.  But I guess the most important factor is the product within…
The Instant Illuminating Powder has more of a blush-esque feel to it rather than being an out and out highlighter.  The pinks are darker than Rose Diamond and it has much less shimmer than it also, hence the reason it is more useful as a blush.  However after giving it a few go’s, I feel completely comfortable wearing it without adding any highlight to my cheeks.  One of the best things I have discovered is that it is easily build-able and easy to blend out so you can’t really overdo it by accident.  It also has fantastic staying power, rivalled only by my Amazonian Clay blush by Tarte.
I’m honestly so pleased that I picked this up and can see it becoming a regular staple in my beauty box.  I’m thinking of going back and adding the golden/brown colour to my collection for summer.  You can pick up the Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder from your nearest Dior counter for £38.  What”s your favourite Dior product?
