L’Oreal False Lash Telescopic Infinite Length Mascara Review

If you haven’t heard the sad news, L’Oreal have discontinued one of  my all time favourite mascaras The L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara in Waterproof.  It was a sad day indeed.  However they say when one door close another opens and in walks the new offering by L’Oreal, the False Lash Telescopic Infinite Length Effect Mascara except unfortunately, it doesn’t have the same strut as it’s predecessor.
I guess the first thing I must do is offer my apologies.  In my Top Drug Store Makeup Picks video I actually told you guys how much I was impressed with this product.  Originally I thought it was great but as time went on and I started wearing it for all day events (such as work!) the shine was getting dimmer and dimmer and the rose tinted spectacles, obtained from owning the original didn’t just come off but fell off my nose onto the floor and were then smashed with a giant boot! So yes I am holding my hands up and saying originally, I got it wrong.
Packaging wise, it is very similar with the same shape.  However the whole range is now the same colour; silver with black writing (or blue writing for the waterproof version.) it is also nice and sturdy and quite expensive looking and I like that.
I picked up the magnetic black version rather than the waterproof as when it was first released, I couldn’t find it anywhere.  Now I wish I had held out and waited.  I suppose we should start with the positives; it’s really dark black… Ok it’s not that bad, but for me, it didn’t get much better.  The formula is actually great, the perfect middle ground between being too wet and too dry.  It also applies lovely and the new plastic bristled brush head makes it easy to get very close to the lash line and into the corners.  I adore my eyes for the first hour after applying this mascara.  Unfortunately that’s were the rave trains comes to a rather abrupt halt for me… after the first hour.
As the day goes on my eyelashes become droopier and droopier before finally returning to their normal position.  As somebody with short, straight lashes I want my mascara to give length, definition and hold that lasts all day. The new False Lash Telescopic wears very quickly and after a few hours my lashes feel like they have nothing on them.  Even when applying a good three coats in the morning by 10am it still feels (and looks) like I forgot to finish my eye makeup that morning. I’ve never come across a more flakey mascara.  I feel like I’m constantly checking my cheeks for small black marks, a big no no!  I suppose one positive is that because it comes off so easily, I’ve never suffered with panda eyes (hooray!!)  In terms of holding curl, even when I curled my lashes beforehand they still ended up in their normal resting position.
I really hope that the waterproof version has the same stamina as it’s predecessor as the normal version is a real disappointment.    I hate being totally negative so I will say that if you already have long, thick, curled lashes this could be the mascara for you.  I just doubt there are many people out there blessed it that naturally.  Think I’ll be sticking with my ‘Benefit They’re Real’ thanks.  I’d love your opinions on L’Oreal’s new mascara offering? Did it work for you?
